PC upgrades and repairs

Computers have moving parts, which age, wear and eventually fail.

If the hard drive fails the computer will not start up. In this situation you would need to buy and istall a replacement drive before re-installing Windows and all your software. All your important data would need to be restored from a backup file.

If you have not backed up your key data it may not be possible to retrieve it! Please see the backup section!

Another typical issue is an ageing PC which is struggling to run newer applications. The user has a dilemma - whether to buy a new PC or upgrade their existing machine. Very often it makes sense to upgrade the machine - it is cheaper than purchasing a new computer, and can stave off the need to buy a new one for up to three years.
